Just 11 days after adding a section on medical marijuanato its treatment database, the National Cancer Institute has altered the new page, removing any mention of the evidence that marijuana can diminish and even reverse tumor growth.
In an edit appearing Monday afternoon, NCI replaced a sentence about marijuana's direct anti-tumor effect with one saying that it is prescribed mainly to control nausea, pain and insomnia for cancer patients, reports Kyle Daly at The Colorado Independent.
The original language, published to the Web on March 17, had read:
The potential benefits of medicinal Cannabis for people living with cancer include antiemetic effects, appetite stimulation, pain relief, and improved sleep. In the practice of integrative oncology, the health care provider may recommend medicinal Cannabis not only for symptom management but also for its possible direct antitumor effect.
After being changed Monday, it now reads:
The potential benefits of medicinal Cannabis for people living with cancer include antiemetic effects, appetite stimulation, pain relief, and improved sleep. Though no relevant surveys of practice patterns exist, it appears that physicians caring for cancer patients who prescribe medicinal Cannabis predominantly do so for symptom management.
Information which acknowledges that marijuana has been used medicinally for thousands of years was left on the site, as were statements regarding cannabinoids and their benefits in ameliorating the side-effects of conventional cancer treatments.
Was Big Pharm behind the changes? Were the pharmaceutical companies protecting their profits derived from harsh and often ineffective chemotherapy?
Do we live in a free, science-based society or one where medical research can be deleted and ignored for political reasons?
Spin control brought to you direct by big brother. They are successfully keeping the truth from Americans and keeping the sick Americans sick. Why would they want you to know that Cannabis has great healing power? Why would they be willing to keep billions of dollars out of the pockets of Big Pharmacy and Doctors that specialize in cancer treatment? It's all about money and keeping the populace medicated. This is conspiracy at it's most basic level. We can't trust the forked tongues of politicians or the media that they influence. Education and truth is the key to winning this war. ReplyDeleteExactly right. They cannot hide it much longer I don't think with people speaking up now and spreading the truth. I was going to say the same thing to you - thank you for helping get the truth out here in SC. My aunt was just diagnosed with cancer. I will keep exposing this incident until it is legal for everyone. The profits of the drug war are large for a lot of people. I'm waiting for a website to publish three keys to this drug war. I hope they do so soon. These illegal arms sales allowed across our border into Mexico by the ATF, the CIA involvement in drug trafficking,the likeness to the Iran Contra Affair, and Wachovia (owned by Wells Fargo now) and Bank of America's involvement in laundering drug money are all enclosed in one article. I hope to find more people here in SC willing to fight for our right to be healthy and that choice placed in our hands, not big pharma. People like you. Keep up the good work, freedom fighter!
